TERMS
OF SERVICE
Introduction
Welcome to SALUTE. SALUTE is a curated community designed to expand access, visibility, and connection for South Asian women leaders and allies.
These Terms of Service and Community Guidelines (“Terms”) establish the standards for participating in the SALUTE community, including through our website, mobile application, events, member platforms, and other SALUTE services.
By joining or participating in SALUTE, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility and Membership
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in SALUTE.
SALUTE reserves the right to establish membership criteria and to accept, decline, suspend, or terminate membership in accordance with these Terms and SALUTE’s membership policies.
You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating or maintaining your account and for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
2. Community Guidelines
SALUTE is built on access, visibility, connection, and trust. We expect members to help maintain a respectful, professional, constructive, and safe community.
2.1 Respect and Professionalism
Treat other members with professionalism, consideration, and respect.
SALUTE does not tolerate harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, hate speech, discrimination, or other abusive or demeaning behavior.
Members should respect differences in backgrounds, experiences, identities, perspectives, and opinions. Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks and harmful conduct are not.
2.2 Privacy and Confidentiality
Trust is fundamental to the SALUTE community.
Do not share another member’s personal information, contact information, conversations, posts, photographs, screenshots, or other content outside of SALUTE without that person’s permission.
Do not disclose confidential, proprietary, privileged, or otherwise sensitive information belonging to another member, their employer, or another organization.
Members should use good judgment when sharing their own confidential or sensitive information. SALUTE cannot guarantee that information shared by members will remain confidential.
2.3 Professional and Constructive Use
SALUTE is intended to foster meaningful relationships, opportunities, learning, and community.
Members may not use SALUTE to:
* Repeatedly or excessively solicit other members;
* Send spam, unsolicited mass messages, or irrelevant promotional content;
* Pressure members to purchase products or services, make investments, donate, or participate in opportunities;
* Engage in fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading conduct; or
* Intentionally disrupt the community or interfere with another member’s experience.
Sharing relevant opportunities, events, resources, businesses, and professional accomplishments is welcome when done thoughtfully and in the spirit of the community.
2.4 Authenticity
Represent yourself honestly.
Do not impersonate another person or organization, create misleading profiles, knowingly provide materially false information, or misrepresent your professional background, affiliations, credentials, or relationship with SALUTE.
Do not use another member’s identity, image, or information without authorization.
2.5 Respect Member Boundaries
Participation in SALUTE does not create an obligation for another member to respond to a message, make an introduction, provide professional assistance, participate in an opportunity, or otherwise engage.
Respect when another member declines or does not respond to outreach. Repeated unwanted contact may be treated as a violation of these Terms.
2.6 Compliance with Law
You must comply with applicable laws and regulations when participating in SALUTE.
Do not use SALUTE to engage in, facilitate, encourage, or promote unlawful activity.
3. Member Content
You are responsible for the content you post, upload, send, or otherwise share through SALUTE.
You may not post or share content that:
* Is unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or intentionally harmful;
* Violates another person’s privacy or confidentiality;
* Infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights;
* Contains malicious software, scams, fraudulent material, or intentionally deceptive information; or
* Encourages illegal activity or conduct that creates a material safety risk.
Only share content that you have the right to share.
SALUTE may review, moderate, restrict, or remove content that violates these Terms or that SALUTE reasonably determines may harm the community, its members, or the integrity of the platform.
4. Photography, Video, and Media
SALUTE events, programs, and other community activities may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed, or otherwise recorded.
By attending or participating in a SALUTE event or program, you understand and acknowledge that photographs, video recordings, or audio recordings in which you appear may be captured.
You grant SALUTE permission to use, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, edit, and otherwise use photographs, video recordings, and audio recordings in which you appear for SALUTE’s organizational, communications, editorial, archival, and promotional purposes, including on SALUTE’s:
* Website and mobile application;
* Social media channels;
* Newsletters and email communications;
* Presentations and reports;
* Event materials; and
* Marketing and promotional materials.
Such use may include your name where appropriate and may occur in digital or physical formats.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, you will not be entitled to compensation for SALUTE’s use of general event photography or recordings.
If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded at an event, please notify SALUTE at legal@salute.community or inform a member of the SALUTE team at the event. SALUTE will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests.
For featured interviews, testimonials, dedicated promotional campaigns, or other content where an individual is a principal subject rather than an incidental participant in an event, SALUTE may request separate consent or a release as appropriate.
5. Intellectual Property
The SALUTE name, logos, branding, website, mobile application, original content, and other SALUTE materials are owned by or licensed to SALUTE and may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, or used without authorization except as permitted by law.
You retain ownership of content that you create and share through SALUTE.
By submitting content for publication or display through SALUTE, you grant SALUTE a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and provide the SALUTE platform and services.
Nothing in these Terms permits SALUTE to use member-created content for unrelated promotional purposes unless otherwise stated or separately authorized.
6. Member Directory and Profiles
SALUTE may make certain member information available to other members through profiles, directories, networking tools, or similar community features.
The information displayed and any available privacy or visibility settings may depend on the features offered through the SALUTE platform.
Please refer to the SALUTE Privacy Policy for additional information regarding how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, and protected.
7. Reporting and Safety
If you encounter content or behavior that you believe violates these Terms, please use any reporting tools available within the SALUTE platform or contact us at **[legal@salute.community](mailto:legal@salute.community)**.
Where available, members may use platform tools to block or restrict another member from contacting or interacting with them.
Reports will be reviewed as appropriate. Members may not knowingly submit false or misleading reports or misuse SALUTE’s reporting systems.
8. Moderation, Suspension, and Removal
SALUTE reserves the right to take appropriate action when these Terms are violated or when conduct creates a material risk to the safety, integrity, or experience of the community.
Depending on the circumstances, SALUTE may:
* Remove content;
* Issue a warning;
* Limit access to certain features;
* Suspend an account or membership; or
* Remove an individual from the SALUTE community.
The appropriate response will depend on the nature, severity, frequency, and circumstances of the conduct.
SALUTE may also take action regarding conduct outside SALUTE when that conduct presents a significant safety concern for members or materially undermines the integrity of the SALUTE community.
9. Privacy
Your use of SALUTE is also subject to the SALUTE Privacy Policy, which explains how SALUTE collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal information.
Questions regarding SALUTE’s privacy practices may be directed to legal@salute.community.
10. Disclaimer
SALUTE facilitates community, networking, programming, information sharing, and professional connections.
SALUTE does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or outcome of information, recommendations, introductions, opportunities, or other content provided by members or third parties.
Members are responsible for exercising their own judgment when acting on information or opportunities shared through the community.
11. Changes to These Terms
SALUTE may update these Terms from time to time as the organization, community, or services evolve.
If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the SALUTE platform, by email, or through another appropriate method.
Continued participation in SALUTE following the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acknowledgment of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
