From production to packaging, sustainability is at the core of every decision made at PajamaSutra. The Brand Sarena Udani founded PajamaSutra in 2007 during a trip to India after completing her MFA in product design from Stanford University. She had noticed that while many loungewear brands sourced and manufactured their lines in South Asia, very few of these brands included women of color in their marketing and social media content. Sarena believes that there is a need for a luxury loungewear brand that celebrates women of color, and in particular a demographic that had always been left out of representation by the luxury loungewear industry - South Asian women. Though firmly planted in the South Asian niche, Sarena still hopes to include all women in her brand's reach, and in 2017 her dream was realized when PajamaSutra was honored to be the official robe sponsor for the Miss Universe competition. Delegates representing countries from all over the globe wore PajamaSutra robes while celebrating their uniqueness and common bonds of sisterhood. A busy mom of three, Sarena believes that all women are goddesses, and deserve some "me time" every day...even if just for a few moments.
